Your kitchen is the epicenter of your home. It is where friends and family gather, where meals are made, and where meals are shared. Because of these reasons, among others, is why the kitchen is one of the top rooms in any home to be renovated. Whether you want more space, better organization, or an update or upgrade, highly skilled designers and contractors are available to bring your vision to life. However, a kitchen remodel is a lot like making an omelet, you’ve got to break a few eggs, but the egg, in this case, is your kitchen.

It’s no secret that remodeling can be a messy and inconvenient ordeal. In terms of your kitchen, you’ll be without access to your food preparation area, and possibly your common dining area. This is where a temporary kitchen will add as much comfort and convenience as possible during your remodel. But what goes into setting up a temporary kitchen?

If your dining room is going to remain intact, it can be an ideal location to set up your temporary kitchen. If your dining room is part of your remodel, your living room, a home office, den, garage, or covered outdoor area can work as well. A few things to keep in mind are having access to water and a way to warm your meals. A microwave is an easy and neat way to cook food. You may also consider freezing meals beforehand, grilling, and collecting coupons for takeout.

To make cleaning up easier during your remodel process paper plates and napkins are recommended. Store your food in plastic containers and keep plenty of paper towels and disposable cups available. Garbage cans and garbage bags will also come in handy. You should also consider using a folding table and chairs; they can be easily stored when not in use.

When it comes to small appliances that can make the transition a little more comfortable there is the previously mentioned microwave, as well as a crockpot, a coffee maker, a toaster oven, and mini refrigerator. Of course, the space you’re using may not be equipped for these extra resources, so make sure you have extension cords and surge protectors as well.

These are only a few of the basics, be sure to include any additional creature comforts you may enjoy over the process of your remodel. While it may seem inconvenient, it can make the renovation process much smoother on your way to a brand-new kitchen.
