As the holidays approach, we're always looking for new, creative, and beautiful ways to reflect the season in our homes, and we know that you are too! This time of year is a great opportunity to exercise a little more creative license and truly let our personalities shine - all while creating a festive and inviting space! To bring you some great tips for the 2020 holidays, we asked our Acadian House design team for a few of their very favorites. Here's what we have to share:

Use Seasonal Greenery: Our team recommends using seasonal greenery such as pine throughout your home to really bring the spirit of the season indoors. Fresh boughs and garlands purchased from local nurseries can be used in your den, kitchen, on the mantle, over doorways, or on stair railings to complete the look of your holiday décor while providing a pleasing scent throughout the home.

Display Holiday Cards on Cabinets: Finding a festive and attractive way to display holiday cards can be a challenge, but our designers have a beautiful solution. They suggest using ribbon to elegantly display your cards on kitchen cabinets. Use tape to discretely adhere a vertical length of wide ribbon down your cabinet doors. Then, using more tape or clothes pins (depending on your desired aesthetic) attach your cards to the ribbon for an eye-catching, festive display.

Add a Touch of Green to Gift Wrap: If you truly want your gifts to stand out and serve as their own statement pieces, focus on beautiful, eye-catching gift wrap! Adding a sprig of holly or pine offers a festive yet rustic touch. Pair it with brown paper and twine to complete the look or with beautifully designed wrapping paper and shiny ribbon for a more elegant feel. You can even add in other natural elements, such as pine cones or cinnamon sticks. As an added bonus, your gifts will smell divine!

Set a Festive Holiday Table: Bring the holidays to your table when you select place settings that reflect the season. Our team recommends focusing on seasonal colors like oranges and golds, reds and greens, or blues and silvers. Incorporate them into dishware, napkins, and table runners. Bump the look up a notch by adding in touches of the seasonal greenery mentioned before or other natural elements like pumpkins, acorns, pine cones, or holly.

Add Personal Elements: While it's nice to feel like your home could be featured in a holiday magazine spread, it's the small, personal touches that make it feel like home. Pieces crafted with your or your children's own two hands can not only make a beautiful addition to your decor, it can really make the look your own. Try handmade ornaments for the tree, personalized place cards for the table, or personally designed wreaths.
