The Pantone Color Institute has announced Emerald as 2013's Color of the Year. This color is ideal for this year, because it is an emotionally positive color that represents nature, health and growth; all subjects society has been focusing on in our modern time. The revitalizing effect of Emeralds' depth explains the associations of renewal and rebirth. We incorporated this color into our material selections for a kitchen by using an Emerald, linear glass back splash. By keeping the remaining materials and finishes neutral lights and darks, the space is balanced throughout and Emerald's boldness is emphasized in an elegant manner.
